Guangdong Music |
Guangdong folk tunes, also regarded as Guangdong string ensemble music, has been popular in the delta district of the Pearl River in Guangdong Province in South China. It was developed in the 1920's by adapting various folk music such as instrumental music and folk singing tunes. Originally it was used as accompaniment music for the Guangdong Folk Opera. Since the 1940's, owing to its warm reception by locals, it gradually appeared independently and was titled Guangdong Folk Tunes, now commonly called Guangdong Music. |
